A pilot for 13 years, John flies for fun, travel
and to obtain first-hand references for art in progress. He is known for his realistic style
and dramatic cloudscapes. Many of his original paintings are held in public and private collections
throughout the United States with some of them available as limited edition prints. In addition to painting
on canvas,
John has 20 plus years of experience creating large scale, high end vehicle graphic design which now
includes fantastic creations on aircraft. Coming soon is a limited edition print of a WWII
15th Air Force B-17 flying through the Alps on one
engine, signed by the pilot and the navigator.

The battle crippled Flying Fortress navigated by Milwaukie resident, Michael Scorcio (then a 2nd Lt), struggles to clear the Italian Alps as it returns from it October 23, 1944 mission...alone. Both port side engines are out, number three can’t be feathered and is “windmilling”, creating further loss of power. Number four is the only engine still running.

The Homecoming Fly-in, on Labor Day week end, is the annual migration of Vans RV
aircraft to the factory in Aurora, Oregon. This painting was created on site at the 2004 event.

2004 - Flying the Boat-a-Cade

“Flying the Boat-a-cade” depicts the gallery owner and her sister in the back seat with their dad in
the
front seat flying his Aeronica Champ on floats. They are flying over boats leaving the Kissimmee
River with its many “S” turns, entering one of the many Florida lakes. This once annual fall event
began at Lake Topekaliga in Kissimmee, Florida then travels through lakes, rivers, and canals to reach
Lake Okeechobee three days later, where some then continued on to the Atlantic Ocean.

"The Pregnant Goose" 047 Early OANG Observer

Nicknamed by those who flew them, "The Pregnant Goose" was flown by the Oregon Air National Guard (OANG)
out of Portland, Oregon in the early forties. This print of the 046 is found in the upper left corner
of John's historical OANG aircraft painting donated by him to the Guard in 2004.
