What’s a retired Naval aviator to do when his fighter days are over? For sculptor and oil painter Joe Adams, the answer
was easy. He transferred his love of flying into beautiful artistic creations in oil and bronze. In addition to aviation art
he paints western scenes, some of which are on display in AEROFRAME Gallery. Joe lives in Beaverton, Oregon.

At the Naval training facility in Virginia the “Black Striper” was the warning signal that a storm was
approaching. Students flying aircraft that had no radios, when sighting the “Black Stiper” were to
immediatley land and stake down the plane.
